Remember in the show Friends, the character “Joey” loved meatball sandwiches? Well I love them as much as he did maybe more. He most likely did not get a chance to try the Meatball Shop as its only been around the last couple of years, but I’m pretty sure he would’ve died for these balls!

Located in LES, ths is one of the best reasons to go down in that neighborhood.  They also have a location in the West Village and a new one in Brooklyn but I always go to the original one for a truly genuine experience. The place is a good size, a bar area and some tables and then a huge communal table in the middle. Red walls with framed pictures of random Italian folks, cozy but a bit cramped, still a nice place to dine in.

Now the best part…. the balls!!! Their menu is pretty straightforward. It also reeks of innuendo and is so much fun to read! You get a black marker and you check off what you want and then done! Off to the kitchen it goes. You can get some naked balls, and choose whatever sauce you want on them. The beef balls are super amazing and I always get them with the spicy red sauce. (My mouth is already watering). The balls are pretty big, but you can fit one in your mouth securely if you want to devour them whole! You get four of them and bread that you can dunk in the sauce. I do not know what they put in those meatballs but they are perfectly seasoned and has an unimaginable consistency. Ive also tried the white aaaheem… mushroom sauce.  Divine!!!! Nice and creamy and not at all too salty.  You can also get your balls with a tossed salad if thats what you prefer or on top of spaghetti.

Other options for your tasty meatballs are little sliders wc of course you can put whatever sauce you want, or an actual meatball sub. Another one is their Smash wc they use hamburger buns with the balls. It’s a must try. It actually reminded me a little of a sloppy joe. There’s nothing better than piping hot balls between fresh buns.

They have a great selection of wine and beer and are all reasonably priced. Another special thing that The Meatball Shop has is their dessert. Giant icecream sandwiches! You can pick what ice cream you want in the middle and the kind of cookies. And you can even mix and match! This gargantuan dessert is best shared unless your mom never taught you that sharing is caring. Although, I would never share my balls. They’re too good!

Everyone has to experience The Meatball Shop… These balls will change your life, I promise!
